Vietnam’s Weather Update (March 3): Persistent Cold in the North

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports that cold air is affecting various areas in the North Central and Northwest regions, along with other regions. Inland areas are experiencing a gradual strengthening of the northeast winds to level 3, while coastal areas are facing winds of level 4-5. In the Northeast region, including Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, and Yen Bai, the weather remains very cold, particularly in the mountainous areas. These cold conditions are expected to persist until the weekend. During this cold wave, the temperatures commonly reach lows of 10-13 degrees in the Northeast region, and even drop below 5 degrees in some high mountain areas. Mai Phuong forecasted to be crowned Miss World 2023

Mai Phuong has been ranked first in Pageanthology’s Post-Arrival Top 12, surpassing several strong rivals to secure the top spot. The Top 5 contestants in Pageanthology’s list include representatives from England, Spain, Turkey, and Thailand. Vietnam athletes offered $1mn for winning Paris Olympic gold medal

The bonuses, which are the biggest rewards ever offered in Vietnam’s sports history, result from a deal signed by the Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) and a strategic partner of the International Sports Funding & Support Association (ISF) in South Korea that will sponsor the entire amount. As per the agreement, some key Vietnamese athletes and teams will go to South Korea for training. Protests Outside Chinese ‘Police Station’ in New York over Alleged Spying

On Saturday, the protesters gathered outside 107 East Broadway where the ChangLe Association Inc, a non-profit which operates a “service station” above the noodle shop. One of the protesters, Toni Cai said, “It’s a very serious problem in the Chinese community,” adding that CCP has coerced people from China severely and has a large influence on them in the state, through American and Asian-American politicians. Vietnamese designer to debut collection at Paris Fashion Week

Hoa will be the only Vietnamese ready-to-wear clothing designer attending the prestigious fashion event this year. At present, she is busy completing her 15 designs using traditional natural materials of Vietnam Lanh My A, a delicate cloth woven from the finest silk fibres produced in Tan Chau Silk Village in the southern province of An Giang. The 31-year-old designer is residing in Ha Tinh province and graduated from National Economics University in Hanoi. She now mostly lives and works in Ho Chi Minh City. Young people demand healthier food environments in East Asia and the Pacific

Children across the region, are growing up in food environments that promote the sale and consumption of these ‘junk’ foods and drinks, rather than healthier alternatives. As a result, more than one in three adolescents are drinking at least one sugary drink a day; more than half consume a fast-food once or more a week; and less than half, are eating enough fruit and vegetables every day. “Today, children and young people are surrounded by junk-food marketing wherever they go: online, on their way to school, college or university, on television, and even while standing in the checkout line of the grocery store.
